Training
Nurturing Nature CIC provides a range of evidence-informed training, consultancy and supervision designed to strengthen social work practice with children and families affected by attachment difficulties and intergenerational trauma. Our work supports social workers, practitioners, foster carers, residential staff, managers and leaders to develop a deeper understanding of the emotional and relational processes underlying behaviour, and to translate this knowledge into practical, compassionate and effective practice. Training includes Attachment, Mentalization and Trauma in Social Work Practice, Trauma-Responsive Practice, and specialist Fostering Training, alongside ongoing reflective learning and focus groups to support the embedding of new skills.
Training Programmes
Applying Attachment, Trauma and Mentalization Principles in Social Work Practice
A two-day training programme to equip practitioners with practical, evidence-informed approaches to understanding and supporting families through the lenses of attachment, mentalization and trauma.
Trauma-Responsive Practice
A practical 2-hour workshop which explores how attachment-based trauma influences parenting, relationships and engagement with professionals, while equipping practitioners with practical strategies to respond in ways that promote safety, trust and the capacity for change.
Specialist Fostering Training
A specialist two-day training to help foster carers develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to see beyond behaviour and build secure, healing relationships.
Consultancy and Supervision Services
We also offer tailored consultancy for organisations and specialist one-to-one supervision for practitioners, managers and leaders, supporting complex case assessment, intervention, reflective practice and service development. All of our work combines research, clinical and frontline experience with practical tools that can be applied directly to improve outcomes (where possible) for children and families.
Ongoing Learning
To support implementation beyond the training, optional monthly reflective focus groups are available. These sessions provide opportunities to discuss cases, explore challenges, refine practice and receive ongoing guidance in applying the course tools and frameworks.
“The focus groups have taken place on a monthly basis following the training Alice has provided. These have been invaluable in supporting practitioners to embed the tools, knowledge and skills learnt within the training. The focus groups provide practitioners with a space to reflect on how to structure conversations with parents using the tools, what to focus on within particular situations and the opportunity to plan their next session with a family, or reflect on what they have learnt so far and where to go next when they are feeling ‘stuck’. They also serve as a reminder about what the tools are and what context they can be used in, so even if they are not discussing a family they are working directly with, it provides reminders and prompts for how to embed the learning with families they are working with.”
